Eyelid Surgery in Stockholm, removes wrinkles under the eyes, bags under the eyes.

Welcome to book a consultation with us for eyelid surgery. Dr. Oya, who has been a specialist in plastic surgery since 1994, will meet with you to discuss your conditions and wishes regarding the eyelid operation. We want to remind you that you are in safe hands, as Dr. Oya has performed many eyelid surgeries.

An eyelid operation can be performed on both the upper and lower eyelids at the same time and usually takes about an hour to complete. Most patients choose local anaesthesia, but if you wish for anaesthesia, this is also possible at a higher cost.

Eyelid surgery reduces or removes drooping eyelids, which often gives a tired appearance. Wrinkles and bags under the eyes can also be reduced with the help of the operation, giving a more alert appearance. It is important to note that eyelid surgery does not prevent ageing, but can help to reduce its visible effects.

In addition to the aesthetic benefits, too much excess skin on the eyelids can also affect the field of vision and lead to fatigue. The operation can help rejuvenate the appearance for several years, making the cost per year very low. A price list is available further down on this webpage.

Eyelid surgery can be performed on either the upper, lower, or both eyelids and is carried out in Stockholm. After the operation, it is recommended to use cooling glasses or cold compresses to reduce swelling, and avoid rubbing your eyes or using too hot water during the first week. To protect the scars, you should avoid sunbathing for half a year after the operation and use high sun protection factor or sun hat.

Whether you want to improve your appearance or experience functional problems with your eyelids, eyelid surgery can help rejuvenate the area around your eyes. We look forward to meeting you at the consultation!

Eyelid Surgery – Treatment and Candidates

Eyelid surgery is a surgical procedure that can help restore the natural contours of the upper and lower eyelids and remove excess skin and fat deposits around the eyes. This can improve the field of vision and give a more youthful and awake appearance. But it’s important to understand who is a good candidate for this procedure and what to expect during a consultation.

What can Eyelid Surgery treat?

Eyelid surgery can treat various problems around the eyes, including:

  • Sagging or loose skin that creates folds and impairs the natural contour of the upper eyelid
  • Fat deposits that cause swelling on the eyelids
  • Bags under the eyes
  • Drooping lower eyelids
  • Excess skin and fine wrinkles in the lower eyelid

Who is a good candidate for Eyelid Surgery?
Good candidates for eyelid surgery include:
  • Healthy patients without medical conditions that may impair healing
  • Smokers should stop smoking at least two weeks before and after the operation to improve the healing process.
  • Patients with a positive outlook and realistic goals
  • Patients without serious eye diseases It is important to point out that eyelid problems can be due to other factors such as relaxation of the skin of the forehead and eyebrows or stretching of the upper eyelid muscle, which is called eyelid ptosis and requires a different surgical treatment. Therefore, your plastic surgeon, Dr Oya, will evaluate your facial anatomy carefully and discuss which procedures can best help you.

How should I prepare for eyelid surgery?

Preparing for eyelid surgery can be an important and exciting time to ensure a good result and a quick recovery. Here are some tips to prepare for the operation in an improved and friendly way:

  • Follow Dr Oyas instructions: It’s important that you follow Dr Oyas instructions carefully to minimise any risks and maximise your recovery. Be sure to take tests and medical evaluation on time and adjust your medications according to the doctor’s recommendations.
  • Stop smoking: Smoking can increase the risk of complications during and after surgery. Try to quit smoking a few weeks before the operation and avoid smoking during recovery.
  • Avoid certain medications: Some medications, aspirin, anti-inflammatory drugs, and herbal supplements can increase bleeding and bruising. Be sure to avoid such medications according to the doctor’s instructions.
  • Prepare postoperative care: Make sure you have everything you need to take care of yourself after the operation, including medications, soft pillows, and other comforts that can help relieve pain and discomfort.
  • Arrange transport and company: Since you will not be able to drive after the operation, make sure to arrange transport and have a friend or family member stay with you during the first night to help and keep you company. By following these tips and instructions, you will be well prepared for your eyelid surgery and increase the chances of a quick and smooth recovery.

What are the steps in eyelid surgery?

Eyelid surgery is a procedure that can help correct problems with the eyelids and give a more youthful appearance. Here’s what happens during eyelid surgery:

Step 1 – Anaesthesia Before the operation begins, you will be given medication to make you comfortable and relaxed. Dr Oya will choose the best type of anaesthesia for you.

Step 2 – The Incision To make the incisions as discreet as possible, they are made in natural folds and lines in the eyelids. The upper eyelid can be corrected through an incision in the natural fold of the eyelid, while the lower eyelid can be corrected with an incision just below the lower lash line or via a transconjunctival incision on the inside of the eyelid. During the operation, fat can be removed or redistributed, muscles tightened, and excess skin removed.

Step 3 – Closing the incisions After the operation, the incisions are closed with sutures which are then removed within 7-10 days. Dr Oya may also recommend using a laser or chemical peel to reduce discolouration under the eyes.

Step 4 – See the results After the operation, it will take a few days or weeks for swelling and bruising to subside. Once this happens, you will see a smoother, more defined eye area with a more youthful appearance.

What can I expect during my eyelid operation recovery?

During your recovery after eyelid surgery, you can expect to use lubricating ointment and cold compresses to reduce swelling and irritation. Sometimes your eyes are covered with gauze after the surgery. Dr Oya will provide you with detailed instructions on how to care for your eyes during the healing process, including which medications you need to take to facilitate healing and reduce the risk of infection.

In the first few days after the surgery, you may experience some swelling, bruising, irritation, dry eyes, and discomfort, but these symptoms can be alleviated with medication, cold compresses, and ointment. It is also common to feel irritation at the incision site.

You must use sunscreen and tinted sunglasses until the healing process is completely finished to protect your eyes from the sun.

Eyelid surgery usually provides long-lasting results, although you will continue to age naturally. To maintain your results, it is important to continue to use sunscreen.

You can expect to be presentable to the public within 10-14 days, but complete healing can take several months. Although most patients achieve good results after a single operation, there is no guarantee. Sometimes an additional operation may be necessary to achieve optimal results.

For your operation to be successful, it is crucial to follow your postoperative instructions. Avoid excessive force, abrasion, or movement in the area around the surgical incisions during the healing period. Dr Oya will follow up with you after the surgery to ensure that healing is progressing as it should.
